Brand identity and digital presence for Vessel, a contemporary ceramics studio working at the intersection of craft tradition and computational form.

Craft meets computation

The mark

The logotype was drawn on a potter's wheel — literally. We attached a fine-nibbed pen to a wheel arm and threw the letterforms as if they were clay. The resulting curve carries genuine centrifugal memory. We cleaned the arcs digitally, but kept the slight irregularity that makes each letter feel made rather than designed.

Motion system

The digital presence uses a motion language derived from the moment clay meets the wheel: an initial stillness, then a sudden, precise rotation. Navigation elements spin into position. Transitions use a radial wipe. The cursor leaves a brief clay-like drag trail that fades within 200ms — present, then gone, like a fingerprint.

Result

Vessel launched in October 2022 and sold its first collection in three hours. The waitlist currently stands at over 4,000 people. The identity was shortlisted for the Brand New Awards and featured in Creative Review's October issue.
